CHEMO IS NOT FOR EVERYONE

Chemotherapy can be hard on the body. Some patients cannot receive it due to health risks treatment tolerance or medical conditions.

SEVERE HEART DISEASE

People with serious heart problems may not tolerate chemotherapy because some drugs affect heart function and increase risk.

WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM

Patients with a very low immune response or severe infections may not start chemotherapy until the body is stable and stronger.

POOR LIVER OR KIDNEY FUNCTION

Chemotherapy is processed by the liver and kidneys. If these organs are weak the body may not safely filter the medication.

ADVANCED AGE WITH MULTIPLE ILLNESSES

Older adults with multiple health conditions may face higher risks and complications and may require a different treatment plan.

CANCER NOT RESPONSIVE TO CHEMO

Some cancers do not respond well to chemotherapy. In these cases surgery radiation or targeted therapy may be better options.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

If chemotherapy is not suitable doctors may recommend immunotherapy radiation clinical trials or supportive care based on the case.
