Medical and surgical treatment of diseases arising from the outer, middle and inner ear and auditory nerve is successfully carried out at Liv Hospital Otoneurology Clinic. Some of our main successful treatments include:

• Middle Ear Effusion: Middle ear fluid problems are common in childhood. They usually develop following recurrent upper respiratory tract infections. Although a significant portion respond to drug treatment, ear tube insertion may be necessary in cases that do not respond.
• Eardrum Holes: The eardrum is a mechanical barrier that protects the middle ear from the external environment. Ear infections are common in cases where there is a hole. A perforated eardrum also causes hearing loss. Therefore, it is recommended to repair the eardrum with surgery.
• Kulesteatoma: It occurs due to the uncontrolled progression of the outer ear canal skin behind the eardrum. Constant and foul-smelling ear discharge and hearing loss are observed. If it is not treated surgically, it may cause fatal consequences such as meningitis and brain abscess as the inflammation spreads to surrounding organs.
• Otosclerosis (calcification of the stirrup bone): It is more common in middle ages, women and those with a family history of otosclerosis. Hearing loss can be surgically corrected with the help of a prosthesis placed between the incus bone and the inner ear.
• Hearing losses originating from the inner ear: Hearing losses originating from the inner ear may occur due to genetic or acquired reasons. While conventional hearing aids may be sufficient for mild and moderate hearing losses, active middle ear implants or cochlear implants (bionic ear) or brainstem implants may be required for severe losses.
• Tumors: Vascular tumors originating from the middle ear (glomustumor) or acoustic neuromas originating from the balance nerve are treated in this department. Although they are benign, these tumors are difficult to approach surgically due to their location and require experience.
