Women’s Power in Interventional Cardiology
As March 8 approaches, Liv Hospital Ulus hosted Boston Scientific’s scientific event titled “Difficult Situations in Interventional Cardiology”, which addressed the difficulties and advanced techniques faced by female physicians in the field of cardiology. In her opening speech, Cardiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Kadriye Kılıçkesmez touched on the low number of female physicians in the field of cardiology and emphasized that they should be given more support.

Female Cardiologists Are Breaking the Routine
The event began with the “Being a Woman in the Catheterization Laboratory” session moderated by Prof. Dr. Kadriye Kılıçkesmez. Prof. Dr. Can Yücel Karabay emphasized the importance of support given to female physicians in interventional cardiology, while Prof. Dr. Derya Tok shared her professional experiences as a female operator with the participants.
Assoc. Münevver Sarı presented important data on how female patients benefit from interventional treatments and their results.

Innovative Solutions for Female Physicians
In the second session, Dr. Neryan Özgül provided information on intracoronary imaging techniques. Prof. Dr. Kevser Gülcihan Balcı evaluated innovative approaches in the interventional treatment of calcific lesions and presented various analyses through case examples.
Radiation Safety and Live Case Applications
In the third session held in the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Emine Gazi touched on radiation safety, an important issue for female physicians, and issues to be considered in special cases such as pregnancy. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinem Çakal explained how female cardiologists can take part more as speakers or operators in national and international congresses.

The event ended with a live case application performed by Prof. Dr. Kadriye Kılıçkesmez. This meeting, which shapes the future of interventional cardiology, attracted great interest from the participants by playing an important role in the professional development of female cardiologists.
