What is Excessive Sweating Treatment?
With Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) surgery, the sympathetic nerves that control hand and armpit sweating activation are surgically separated or their activities are blocked by clipping.
The most important complication that should be known in patients whose hand and armpit sweating has been successfully treated with a closed method (videothoracoscopic) with a complication rate of 1-2 percent is compensatory (reflex) sweating. It occurs in 10-30 percent of patients undergoing single-level (T3 or T4) surgery and may require the person to change clothes throughout the day.
Since there is a 40-50 percent chance of reversal in patients operated on using the clipping method, removal of the clips may be possible. Facial flushing and facial sweating can also be treated with the same method.
