Overview and Purpose

What is Breast Aesthetics?

Breast Aesthetics, also known as Aesthetic Breast Surgery, encompasses a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures designed to improve the size, shape, symmetry, and overall appearance of the breast. Whether you are looking to restore volume lost after pregnancy, correct natural asymmetry, or enhance your silhouette, these procedures are tailored to your unique biological frame.

The Purpose of Aesthetic Breast Surgery

The primary goal of Breast Aesthetic Surgery is to create a balanced and harmonious body contour. At Liv Hospital, we understand that a “boob job” is a deeply personal decision. Our purpose is to provide a safe, high-tech clinical environment where you can achieve a result that looks and feels natural. From a classic breast augmentation to complex reconstructive aesthetics, we prioritize your health and aesthetic vision to ensure your transformation is as safe as it is beautiful.

Common Procedures

Advanced Aesthetic Breast Techniques

Every patient has a different biological starting point. At Liv Hospital, we offer a variety of Aesthetic Breast Surgery options:

  • Breast Augmentation: Increasing volume using silicone or saline breast implants. We offer various profiles (round or teardrop) to match your desired look.
  • Breast Lift (Mastopexy): Raising and firming the breast by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to create a more youthful “perkiness.”
  • Breast Reduction: Removing excess glandular tissue and skin to alleviate physical discomfort (neck and back pain) while improving the aesthetic proportion.
  • Hybrid Augmentation: Combining breast implants with the patient’s own fat (fat grafting) to create a softer, more seamless transition at the edges of the implant.
  • Inverted Nipple Correction: A minor Breast Aesthetic Surgery to release the ducts and allow the nipple to project naturally.

Consultation and Preparation

The Clinical Evaluation

A successful journey in Breast Aesthetics begins with a 3D anatomical simulation. At Liv Hospital, we use advanced technology to help you “try on” different sizes of breast implants virtually. Your surgeon will assess your skin elasticity, chest wall dimensions, and current glandular tissue to recommend the most stable surgical plan for your body.

Preparing for Your Surgery

  • Medical Screening: A pre-operative mammogram or ultrasound is required to ensure the biological health of the breast tissue before surgery.
  • Nicotine Cessation: You must stop smoking 4 to 6 weeks before Aesthetic Breast Surgery, as nicotine significantly impairs the blood flow needed for healing.
  • Medication Review: Avoid blood-thinning supplements (Vitamin E, fish oil) and anti-inflammatory drugs for 2 weeks to minimize the risk of “hematoma” (internal bruising).
  • Sizing Confirmation: We encourage a “second fitting” session to ensure you are 100% confident in the volume and profile of the implants chosen for your boob job.

Surgery and Recovery

The Surgical Experience

Breast Aesthetic Surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Our surgeons utilize “no-touch” techniques to place breast implants, which reduces the risk of contamination and long-term complications. Depending on your anatomy, incisions may be placed under the breast fold, around the nipple, or in the armpit to ensure the scars are as discreet as possible.

The Recovery Timeline

  • The First 48 Hours: You will experience “tightness” in the chest. You will be fitted with a specialized surgical support bra immediately.
  • Week 1: Most patients return to light office work. You must avoid lifting your arms above your head or carrying heavy objects.
  • Weeks 2–4: Swelling begins to subside, and the implants start to “drop and fluff” into their natural position.
  • Month 2: You can typically resume light exercise (walking, stationary bike). High-impact activities like running or “jumping” should be avoided for at least 8 to 12 weeks to protect the internal internal healing of the breast.

Maintenance and Results

Ensuring Long-Term Success

The results of Aesthetic Breast Surgery are transformative, but the breasts require ongoing care to maintain their shape.

  • Annual Screenings: Even with breast implants, regular mammograms or MRIs are essential to monitor the biological health of the breast and the integrity of the implant shell.
  • Wear Supportive Bras: To combat gravity, wearing a supportive bra (especially during exercise) is the best “insurance” for your Breast Aesthetics.
  • Scar Therapy: We provide silicone gels and laser treatments at Liv Hospital to help your incisions fade into thin, nearly invisible white lines over 12 months.
  • Sun Protection: Protect the incision areas from UV light for the first year to prevent permanent darkening (hyperpigmentation).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between a breast lift and breast augmentation?

A breast lift (mastopexy) raises and reshapes sagging breast tissue by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. It does not significantly change the size. Breast augmentation increases the volume and size of the breast using implants or fat transfer. Many patients choose to combine both procedures to achieve lift and volume simultaneously.

Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices. While they are durable and can last many years, they are subject to wear and tear. The average lifespan of a modern implant is often cited as 10 to 20 years, but many women keep them longer without issues. A replacement may be necessary due to rupture, capsular contracture, or a desire to change the size.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding can alter the shape and size of the breasts due to hormonal changes and skin stretching. This can compromise the results of a previous augmentation or lift, potentially leading to sagging or volume loss. Surgeons often recommend waiting until childbearing is complete before undergoing a breast lift, though augmentation can be done beforehand.

Most breast surgeries, including augmentation and many types of lifts and reductions, are designed to preserve the milk ducts and nerves required for breastfeeding. However, there is no guarantee. Breastfeeding ability depends on the specific surgical technique used and the individual’s anatomy. It is an important topic to discuss during a consultation.

There is no single ideal shape, as beauty is subjective and varies across cultures and personal preferences. However, clinically, an aesthetically pleasing breast often has a “teardrop” shape, with greater fullness in the lower pole than in the upper pole, a nipple that points slightly upward, and a smooth transition from the chest wall.
