Spec. Dr. Özge Akça is a distinguished pediatric specialist at İstinye University Hospital, recognized for her commitment to delivering world-class, evidence-based care that prioritizes the well-being and comfort of every child. A graduate of Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, where she earned her M.D. degree in 2006, Dr. Akça went on to complete her specialization in Pediatrics at Bezm-i Alem Vakıf University School of Medicine in 2014. Her specialization thesis, “A Retrospective Study of Demographic Features of Patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit between 2010 and 2014,” reflects her strong research foundation and dedication to improving pediatric outcomes through data-driven insights. Her academic advisor, Prof. Dr. Demet Demirkol, guided her through a rigorous scientific inquiry that shaped her evidence-based approach to patient care.

Throughout her career, Dr. Akça has served in prominent national and international medical institutions, including KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore, where she worked as a Research Fellow—expanding her global perspective on advanced pediatric practices. She has also provided expert pediatric care at leading hospitals across Turkey, such as Yedikule Holy Savior Armenian Hospital Foundation, Sariyer Ismail Akgun State Hospital, and Kahta State Hospital. From 2020 to 2024, she also offered private consultations at her own clinic, delivering individualized pediatric follow-up, preventive care, and growth monitoring services.

Dr. Akça’s areas of expertise span the full spectrum of child health, from newborn follow-up and lactation counseling to adolescent nutrition, asthma, allergic diseases, and vaccination monitoring. She has a special interest in developmental pediatrics, applying tools such as the Denver Developmental Screening Test to evaluate neuromotor and cognitive milestones. Her approach integrates preventive medicine and social pediatrics, helping families foster healthy growth through education, early diagnosis, and timely intervention.

A dedicated contributor to pediatric research, Dr. Akça co-authored the peer-reviewed article “An Unusual Case of Foreign Body Aspiration Mimicking Cavitary Tuberculosis in an Adolescent Patient: Thread Aspiration,” published in the Italian Journal of Pediatrics. She has also presented several scientific posters at international pediatric emergency and intensive care congresses, contributing to the global exchange of clinical knowledge.

Committed to continuous professional development, Dr. Akça holds numerous prestigious certifications, including Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Breastfeeding Counseling, and the Denver Developmental Screening Test 2. She has participated in advanced pediatric courses and congresses focusing on neonatal resuscitation, intensive care, and pediatric emergencies, demonstrating her dedication to lifelong learning and the advancement of medical science.
