Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury at Liv Hospital

In infants and children, a variety of traumas can occur, especially falls from heights. These incidents range from minor mild head injuries, which involve observation in the emergency department for a few hours, to moderate and severe head injuries requiring hospitalization for several days. There is also a possibility of accompanying spine and spinal cord injuries in these cases. These children are managed by the Emergency Department unit in close collaboration with all relevant specialties.

Procedures for Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment

The treatment of traumatic brain injury depends on the severity and cause of the injury. Mild traumatic brain injury can usually be treated with rest, pain relievers, and plenty of fluids. Severe traumatic brain injury may require hospitalization and medical treatment.

Treatment for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury:

Rest: This is important for the healing of the brain. Pain relievers: Pain relievers can be used to alleviate pain and headaches. Plenty of fluids: Drinking plenty of fluids can help prevent brain swelling.

Treatment for Severe Traumatic Brain Injury:

Hospitalization: The patient is admitted to the hospital for close monitoring of the brain’s condition. Medication: Medications may be used to regulate blood pressure, blood sugar, and other vital functions. Surgery: Surgery may be necessary if there is brain bleeding or other serious injuries. Physical therapy: In some cases, physical therapy may be required to improve physical functions after a head injury.

Psychological support: Traumatic brain injury can also lead to emotional issues. In such cases, psychological support may be necessary.
