Restoring Harmony to the Head and Neck

In the past, Ear, Nose, and Throat surgery often meant large incisions, visible scars, and long, painful recoveries. Today, the field of Otorhinolaryngology has undergone a technological revolution. At Liv Hospital, we champion the philosophy of “Functional Preservation”—our goal is not just to remove disease but to preserve or restore the vital functions of hearing, breathing, speaking, and swallowing.

Our operating rooms are equipped with the latest Surgical Navigation Systems, High-Definition Endoscopes, and the da Vinci Robot, allowing us to perform complex procedures through natural openings (the nose, mouth, or ear canal) with no external scars. Whether you are seeking a solution for chronic sinusitis, hearing loss, or a head and neck tumor, our multidisciplinary team tailors a treatment plan that prioritizes your quality of life.

Functional Rhinoplasty and Sinus Surgery

The nose is the center of the face and the gateway to the lungs. Our approach combines aesthetic refinement with airway optimization.

For patients who want to change the shape of their nose but also struggle to breathe, we perform a “Dual-Benefit” surgery.

  • The Procedure: We correct the Deviated Septum (the crooked internal wall) and reduce the Turbinates (swollen radiators) to open the airway. Simultaneously, we refine the external shape (removing a hump, lifting the tip) using Piezo (Ultrasonic) Technology which sculpts bone without breaking it, reducing bruising.
  • The Outcome: A nose that looks beautiful and breathes perfectly.

For chronic sinusitis that resists medication, we must physically open the drainage pathways.

  • The Technique: Using thin endoscopes and micro-instruments, we enter through the nostrils. There are no cuts on the face. We remove polyps and widen the natural openings of the sinuses (Maxillary, Ethmoid, Frontal) to allow mucus to drain.
  • Navigation-Assisted: For complex cases (near the eye or brain), we use a “GPS” system that tracks our instruments on your CT scan in real-time, ensuring maximum safety.

Balloon Sinuplasty

A minimally invasive option for patients with simple blockages.

  • How it works: A small balloon is inserted into the sinus opening and inflated. This gently fractures the thin bone to widen the opening without removing tissue. Recovery is typically 24 hours.

Ear Surgery (Otology)

Hearing loss isolates people from the world. We offer a full spectrum of solutions, from microscopic repair to bionic reconstruction.

Cochlear Implants (The “Bionic Ear”)

For patients with severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss where hearing aids no longer help, a Cochlear Implant bypasses the damaged inner ear.

  • The Surgery: An electrode array is threaded into the snail-shaped cochlea. A processor sits behind the ear (like a hearing aid).
  • The Result: It provides direct electrical stimulation to the auditory nerve. Liv Hospital offers a comprehensive “Switch-On” and Mapping program to help your brain interpret these new signals as speech and music.

Tympanoplasty (Eardrum Repair)

A hole in the eardrum (perforation) causes recurrent infections and hearing loss.

  • The Technique: We harvest a tiny piece of fascia (muscle covering) or cartilage from your own ear and graft it over the hole. This can often be done through the ear canal (Endoscopic Tympanoplasty) with no external incision.

Stapedectomy

For Otosclerosis (where the third ear bone, the stapes, becomes stuck), we remove the frozen bone and replace it with a microscopic Teflon or Titanium piston. This instantly restores the vibration chain and hearing.

Head and Neck Cancer Surgery

A diagnosis of cancer in the throat or voice box requires aggressive treatment, but we fight to save your voice and ability to swallow.

Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS)

Liv Hospital is a leader in using the da Vinci Robot for oropharyngeal (throat/tonsil/tongue base) cancers.

  • The Old Way: Splitting the jaw and lip to reach the back of the throat (Mandibulotomy).
  • The TORS Way: The robot’s 3D camera and wristed instruments enter through the open mouth. The surgeon sits at a console and removes the tumor with tremor-free precision.
  • The Benefit: No visible scarring, no broken bones, shorter hospital stay, and faster return to normal eating.

Thyroidectomy with Nerve Monitoring

The thyroid gland sits on top of the laryngeal nerves that control your voice.

  • The Safety Protocol: We use an Intraoperative Nerve Monitor (NIM). This device “beeps” if the surgeon gets too close to the nerve, allowing us to protect it. We perform Total Thyroidectomy (for cancer) or Lobectomy (for nodules) with a small, low-neck incision hidden in a skin crease.

Neck Dissection

If cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, we perform a Functional Neck Dissection. We remove the fatty tissue containing the lymph nodes while carefully preserving the vital muscles (Sternocleidomastoid), veins (Internal Jugular), and nerves (Accessory Nerve) to maintain shoulder movement and neck shape.

Voice and Swallowing Surgery (Laryngology)

For professionals who rely on their voice, hoarseness is a career-ending injury. We treat the vocal cords like the delicate instruments they are.

Laser Phonomicrosurgery

For benign lesions (polyps, cysts, nodules) or early cancer on the vocal cords.

  • The Precision: Using a CO2 Laser coupled to a microscope, we can vaporize the lesion layer-by-layer without damaging the underlying ligament that allows the cord to vibrate. This preserves the “quality” and range of the voice.

Injection Laryngoplasty

For patients with a paralyzed vocal cord (which causes a breathy, weak voice).

  • The Fix: We inject a filler material (like Hyaluronic Acid or fat) into the paralyzed cord to “bulk it up.” This allows the healthy cord to meet it in the middle, restoring a strong voice and preventing choking while drinking.

Pediatric ENT Surgery

Children are not small adults; their anatomy is different. Our Pediatric Unit focuses on comfort and quick recovery.

Coblation Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy

Traditional tonsil removal uses high heat (cautery), which causes significant pain.

  • The Innovation: We use Coblation (Controlled Ablation) technology. It uses radiofrequency energy at a low temperature (60°C) to dissolve tissue.
  • The Benefit: Significantly less pain, faster healing, and a lower risk of post-op bleeding compared to traditional methods.

Ear Tubes (Ventilation Tubes)

For children with recurrent ear infections or “Glue Ear” (fluid behind the drum).

  • The Procedure: A tiny incision is made in the eardrum, and a microscopic tube is inserted. This allows air to enter the middle ear, drying up the fluid and restoring hearing instantly. The tubes usually fall out on their own after 6–12 months.

Sleep Apnea Surgery

When CPAP machines fail, surgery can be a life-changing option for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP)

The classic sleep surgery. We remove the tonsils, trim the uvula, and stiffen the soft palate to prevent it from collapsing and vibrating (snoring).

Expansion Sphincter Pharyngoplasty

A modern refinement of UPPP. Instead of removing tissue, we reposition the muscles of the palate to pull the airway open (like tying back a curtain). This is more effective for collapse at the side walls of the throat.

Tongue Base Reduction

If the tongue falls back during sleep, causing apnea, we can reduce its volume using Robotic Surgery or Radiofrequency Ablation. This creates more space behind the tongue for air to pass.

The Post-Operative Journey

Recovery starts the moment surgery ends. We provide a structured plan for our international patients.

  • Nasal Packing: We use modern Dissolvable Packing or soft silicone splints that allow you to breathe through your nose immediately after surgery. The dreaded “yard of gauze” removal is a thing of the past.
  • Hospital Stay: Most ENT surgeries (Rhinoplasty, Sinus, Ear) require only 1 night. Head and Neck Cancer surgeries may require 3–5 days.
  • Pain Management: We use a multimodal approach (ice, anti-inflammatories, mild narcotics) to keep pain scores below 3/10.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the recovery time for tonsillectomy?

Recovery typically takes about 10 to 14 days; patients will experience a sore throat and must stick to a soft diet, staying hydrated to prevent bleeding and speed up healing.

Hearing aids amplify sound and improve communication, but they do not restore “normal” hearing; they help the brain process sounds that have been missing, which takes time to adjust to.

Immunotherapy works like a vaccine for allergies: by introducing small, gradually increasing doses of the allergen, the immune system builds tolerance and stops overreacting to the trigger.

Sinus surgery permanently widens the drainage pathways, but chronic inflammation can recur; continued medical management with sprays or irrigations is often needed to maintain the results.

A cochlear implant is an electronic device that is surgically implanted to bypass the damaged part of the inner ear and directly stimulate the hearing nerve, providing sound signals to the brain.
