No. This is the most important thing to remember. Unlike male or female pattern baldness, which physically shrinks and destroys the hair follicle over time, Alopecia Areata leaves the stem cells of the follicle completely alive and intact. Even if you have been without hair for years, the biological potential for full regrowth remains.
You did not cause this. Alopecia Areata is a genetic autoimmune condition.
